First off I want to say sorry for the extremely long leave of absence, life just gets busy you know. Anyways, I have decided to step up my game and do more posts. Luckily in this huge time break I have come across many things to post about as well as done some of my own DIY craft projects that I think will interest you all.<br />
<br />
For this first post back I want to just do a quick post to highlight a handed down handmade quilt that my boyfriend received that we absolutely adore! It is a crochet quilt that has a floral burst pattern that is very colorful. In the below picture we have it draped over our vinyl green chair that I found at a thrift store a while back.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
My boyfriend doesn't really know who exactly in his family actually made it but it has been in his family for a while and was last at his Grandma's house. I think it ties our room together and it is quite warm as well!<br />

It was a 503 yellow primary fridgie waiting to be adopted! The dish was in perfect condition, though some glass damage from the lid (at least it had a lid!)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UxkJY0039WY/UMZnjUGvShI/AAAAAAAAAR0/bYT-5H8qSrQ/s640/primary3.jpg" width="640" /></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"> Since Goodwill likes to sort all their items by color, the red cart was right next to the yellow and there sitting on it were 2 501 red primary fridgies with lids!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ESZnSeeRELk/UMZorypyJWI/AAAAAAAAASE/hGUYtS-8rco/s640/primary2.jpg" width="640" /></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">These two however are not in the greatest of conditions, but they are still vibrant and shiny! My next instinct was to check the blue section again to see if I missed the other fridgie for this set, but I couldn't find it. This was still a good find for me though! The yellow fridgie was $3 and the red fridgies were $2 each. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; line-height: 16px;"> </span><span style="line-height: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Over the summer, I stopped on this little thrift store near where I was working and spotted this cool Pyrex glass. The cup didn't have a price on it so they sold it to me for 10 cents. Unfortunately there was only one.</span></span><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I've tried researching them and the most I can find are similar cups called Glas-Snap and DrinkUps. I'm trying to find this particular one so I can make a set but I am having trouble finding it. Does anybody have any information about this cup?</span></div>

<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-k4Zp1rbIzFs/UwFC-47dQKI/AAAAAAAAAUI/WPiRVpn8hlM/s1600/pwd_newdot.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-k4Zp1rbIzFs/UwFC-47dQKI/AAAAAAAAAUI/WPiRVpn8hlM/s1600/pwd_newdot.png" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I never got around to blogging about my New Dots find but I think now is the appropriate time to share. Over the summer when I was at Goodwill, I gasped when I spotted the yellow New Dots bowl on the shelf! I was even more excited when it said that it was only $2.99!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-tE-Oz3kU4r8/UJRHoAIadHI/AAAAAAAAARA/l1pF8aken3M/s1600/IMG_0098.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-tE-Oz3kU4r8/UJRHoAIadHI/AAAAAAAAARA/l1pF8aken3M/s1600/IMG_0098.JPG" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Isn't she so pretty?? Of course I ran around looking through all the carts to see if they had split up all the colors. Unfortunately none of the other colors were there but I was still excited to get my hands on this yellow one!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">An unfortunate disaster happened this weekend and I almost cried when it happened. My roommates and I had some people over on Monday when Sandy decided to come and classes were cancelled. Some guys in the kitchen were washing dishes after eating lunch and I came in and looked up and slowly my New Dots bowl was falling and falling until it smashed to pieces on the floor. I stood there staring at the bowl and wanted to cry at the moment. I held back my tears though.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">This is the aftermath:</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--4owjosREa0/UJRI82kO6oI/AAAAAAAAARI/Cb2aRV83sTM/s1600/new+dots.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--4owjosREa0/UJRI82kO6oI/AAAAAAAAARI/Cb2aRV83sTM/s640/new+dots.jpg" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-w_RnOjdWsBI/UJRI9hSvzoI/AAAAAAAAARQ/EkG3BO68uSo/s1600/new+dots2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-w_RnOjdWsBI/UJRI9hSvzoI/AAAAAAAAARQ/EkG3BO68uSo/s640/new+dots2.jpg" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Hopefully I can find this bowl again and repair the hole in my heart this has left me. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>

About a month and a half ago was the last time I came across my last big purchase. On the shelves of a local Goodwill I found a 441 white Butterprint bowl that I ended up giving to my sister since she collects that pattern. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-9Sz6np5Oumw/UGoLcUt94NI/AAAAAAAAAPY/zdLOiNvBuY0/s1600/IMG_0437.JPG" /></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I also found a 401, 402, 441, and 442 Spring Blossom mixing bowls all stacked together! It had been my biggest find yet. </span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">My newest member of the Spring Blossom family is this fridgie that my sister picked up for me at a local thrift store in Richmond. I am so excited because it is my first fridgie!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>

We actually found a good amount of stuff at the Goodwill Outlet but at other stores, not as good prices. At one thrift store we found these two Pyrex bowls but way to overpriced for what they had to offer. The first piece that we found was this little Butter Gold 401 cinderella bowl on the shelf for a whopping $4.98. Cute, but not that cute... sorry.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-iU-T8C-1i1k/UEJ9UqHdeZI/AAAAAAAAAOw/J64xhsr1nuo/s640/pyrex2.jpg" width="640" /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Like I said in this <a href="http://paperwaterdrops.blogspot.com/2012/07/poor-primary.html" style="color: #e06666;">post</a>, I knew I would come across another Primary 402 bowl and sadly, the price wasn't doing it for me this time. Yes, the bowl was a little damaged and if the bowl was in better condition, I probably would have spent the $4.98 price.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aH3mXQ3QubY/UEJ9UDPvIjI/AAAAAAAAAOo/1sW933QBmVo/s640/pyrex1.jpg" width="640" /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I will find you again red primary, I know you exist and are ready to be with me collection.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Another fun thing that my sister and I ran across was this device called a Flowbee. Apparently it's a "as seen on tv" item but was surprised to find that there were 2 at this thrift store.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-sqAKJqNjyOU/UEJ_W48_7TI/AAAAAAAAAO4/LhregCb1uuU/s640/flowbee.jpg" width="640" /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Here my sister is modeling the device that looks like a vacuum for your hair while also cutting your hair at the same time. Never would have thought this existed.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">One last thing that was left behind was this faded Pyrex bowl that I spotted a few weeks ago. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IU4Rd97Mr5A/UEJ_XVoXazI/AAAAAAAAAPA/M6kLVnzQf8U/s1600/pyrex3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IU4Rd97Mr5A/UEJ_XVoXazI/AAAAAAAAAPA/M6kLVnzQf8U/s1600/pyrex3.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I'm not sure what set this bowl came from. Maybe the pink nesting bowl collection?</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

Along the sale rack I found this cheap black pendant that I was inspired to create my own paint dipped necklace. The way I created the "dipped" look was by first wrapping tape around the pendant where I wanted the paint to go.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Mv7uGzeEYb8/UDRb-C7AncI/AAAAAAAAANk/LgJPgPdbKls/s1600/necklace1.jpg" /></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">After that I just used a small paint brush to paint the bottom half of the pendant. Since the pendant was black, I had to paint a couple of coats in order for the color to show. After the paint was completely dry, I carefully peeled off the tape to reveal a nice clean line. Forgetting to take pictures along the way of making this necklace, I made a chain that was the length that I wanted it to be and linked the ends together. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">I then applied a few layers of this Krylon Crystal Clear acrylic coating to prevent the paint from scratching off of the surface of the pendant.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nrZSwJbUNzE/UDRb_cyge_I/AAAAAAAAANs/5zr-pPSCrDM/s640/necklace2.jpg" height="480" width="640" /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">This is the necklace drying on my balcony.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6xydbfBx73Y/UDRcDHHGyHI/AAAAAAAAAOE/BVgQfeVuIhY/s640/necklace5.jpg" height="480" width="640" /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-8I7y6IrpX_U/UDRcA5qqDJI/AAAAAAAAAN0/619pcIkX96Y/s640/necklace3.jpg" height="480" width="640" /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Now I have a new necklace that will pretty much go with anything and I am very happy with the way it turned out. I bought materials to make different necklaces as well so hopefully I can get on with making new jewelry.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Over the weekend, my sister and I stopped in The Love Of Jesus thrift store to browse the shelves. The first thing that I came upon was an Americana oval casserole dish taped up with the Verde oval casserole dish lid. I'm not a fan of the Americana pattern, but I was more interested in the Verde lid because my Verde casserole dish has been without it's lid for many years! The set together was $6 which is a lot for wanting just the lid but I decided to pass along the Americana dish to my boyfriend.</span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Here is the Verde lid with the Americana oval casserole dish that came together.</span>
</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">Items that we did leave behind were two yellow cinderella mixing bowls. I'm not sure which set they belong to but they were in awful shape. </span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;"><br /></span></div>

From the past couple of times heading through the alleys of Richmond, we were able to acquire some random, but also useful pieces. On our first adventure we were able to pick up a few pieces of furniture. The first piece was<span style="color: #e06666;"> <a href="http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/90201688/#/30201691">this</a></span> similar ikea tv stand.</span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Our second find on this trip was a mid century dresser in really nice condition. Our only issue was that we already had the ikea stand in the back of the subaru, which means something had to go. My sister really wanted the dresser for her room so we took the ikea piece out and placed the dresser in the car. There was still some space left in the back so I was persistent of fitting them both in the trunk. Little did I know one of the shelves would fall out and gash my foot. Ow. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Also before fitting the dresser into the car, we unscrewed the legs to give us more space in the back. When we arrived back at my sister's place to unload the pieces and clean my foot, we realized we only had three of the legs for the dresser. Woops. We had to venture out to the alleys of Richmond and figure out which alley we had gotten the dresser from. Luckily after some searching, we found the spot and retrieved the dresser leg. The dresser is similar to these dressers:</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Some other random finds that we collected were 2 black standing lamps, 3 rolls of quilt batting, desk organizer, 4 pilsner glasses, a bookshelf and a vanity. The vanity has since been taken to my new apartment and is in the process of a makeover. I also received my sister's old dresser which will be getting a similar makeover. I bought a can of paint and started sanding!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">The dresser took 2 coats of paint since it was white to begin with and the vanity took 3 coats. Once my room is set up I will post more pictures of the finished product!</span></div>

I shrieked and picked it up to find out the color was heavily damaged and mostly worn away.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">I think this bowl has seen it's days in the dishwasher. The bowl was $1.99 so I passed on buying it. I only have the yellow 404 primary mixing bowl so I was hoping the add this piece. Better luck next time, I'm sure I will see another one day.</span></div>

Who doesn't love tasty enchiladas on a night in on Thursday? This meal is so easy to make and tastes delicious and just about any kind of ingredients can go in them.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><b>Serves 3 </b></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Ingredients:</span></div>

</div>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Pack of small tortillas (8 usually come in a pack)</span></li>

<li><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">2 chicken breasts</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Shredded Cheese (I use Sharp Cheddar)</span></li>
</ul>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Directions:</span></div>
<div>
<ol>
<li><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Preheat the oven to 375</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Chop up onions and peppers and saute in a medium size frying pan</span></li>

<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></div>
</div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">One of my roommates is a vegetarian so we made a separate dish for her meal without chicken. You can't go wrong with this meal, unless of course you burn the food to pieces.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">And of course I had to bake this lovely meal in my new flamingo pink baking dish that I picked up at an antique mall near my work not too long ago. This dish is so versatile and can't wait to get my hands on a square brownie dish!</span></div>

Le Creuset's trademark, Royal Chambord, was first used on November 1, 1960 but wasn't filed until May 19, 1961. The trademark has since expired.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">I also found <span style="color: #e06666;"><a href="http://bulk.resource.org/courts.gov/c/F2/529/529.F2d.495.75--1772.75--1771.html"><span style="color: #e06666;">this</span></a> </span>court case that appears to have involved Royal Chambord.</span><br />

I'm not really fond of this pattern/color so I decided not to spend the money on it. I am living in a new apartment with 2 other roommates so I need to be careful of how much pyrex I bring into the kitchen.</span><br />

My boyfriend said that cart had been sitting there the whole time so I grabbed it for inspection.
</span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ZLZvLk6Xbds/T_shWepNvxI/AAAAAAAAAIs/MMPngYzlkOQ/s1600/pan4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="423" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ZLZvLk6Xbds/T_shWepNvxI/AAAAAAAAAIs/MMPngYzlkOQ/s640/pan4.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">This pan is a Royal Chambord Orange Enamal Cast Iron pan bought at Goodwill for $1.99. I have not been able to find a lot of information on this brand but this pan resembles a lot like <a href="http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-LE-CREUSET-28-CAST-IRON-ENAMEL-SKILLET-FRY-PAN-FLAME-ORANGE-LIGHT-USE-/350560538688?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item519f095040#ht_1519wt_1263">Le Creuset's Vintage Skillet</a>. As you can see this pan still has it's original stickers on it so that means it was never used! </span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">paperwaterdrops is back and ready to blog again! It's been about a year since a new post, but our blog has been revived with a new look.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">This is one of my first purchases of pyrex that I just bought a week ago. I found this cute 1.5 quart Spring Blossom Oval Casserole Dish at goodwill for only 1.99! It didn't have it's lid with it but I'm sure it will be found some day. I already had a few verde pieces to begin with so I think this dish will fit in with it's new family quite well!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-OcxIyZke0_A/T_hEQTQUA1I/AAAAAAAAAH0/HTdW1Jib2b0/s1600/pyrex1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-OcxIyZke0_A/T_hEQTQUA1I/AAAAAAAAAH0/HTdW1Jib2b0/s640/pyrex1.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">I have been visiting goodwills all over where I live and haven't found many exciting pieces, so when I saw this dish I knew I wanted it for my collection. Stay tuned for some more posts about my other pieces of pyrex in my collection so far!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">A favorite find, to be sure. This vintage Hamilton Beach Mixette hand mixer (scored at a local thrift haunt) came complete with the original box, instructions, and an extra set of beaters! </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-vx4eLTvoU8s/TfOnYs0L5bI/AAAAAAAAAG0/1alSGhx4sG4/s1600/4526226577_fe30cbef72_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-vx4eLTvoU8s/TfOnYs0L5bI/AAAAAAAAAG0/1alSGhx4sG4/s640/4526226577_fe30cbef72_b.jpg" width="480" /></span></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">I find that I tend to use this mixer more frequently than my vintage stand mixer due to ease of use and cleanup. </span></div>paperwaterdropshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03021940905792393059noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4600046241231260007.post-80160456259147565972011-05-20T19:40:00.000-07:002012-07-09T12:31:21.238-07:00Flower Pillow<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Today I completed a pillow from this <a href="http://www.vanessachristenson.com/2010/05/guest-blogger-tutorial-allison-of-cluck.html">V and Co.</a> tutorial. The tutorial was easy to follow and the pillow was so easy to make. It's great if you are just learning to sew because you get to practice just straight line sewing and sewing curvy edges.</span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: -webkit-auto;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">The only costly thing about the pillow was buying the actual pillow form to go inside, but other than that the felt is very cheap to buy in bulk and there was a sale on the patterned fabric at JoAnn's. <a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8zy9zbKNHRA/UwKAoXON-zI/AAAAAAAAAUY/GuLOZxXUmKg/s1600/pwd_mittens.bmp" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8zy9zbKNHRA/UwKAoXON-zI/AAAAAAAAAUY/GuLOZxXUmKg/s1600/pwd_mittens.bmp" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Earlier in the year, my sister found this tutorial from MarthaStewart.com that had a quick and easy tutorial on how to make mittens salvaged from old sweaters! So we both decided to give it a try and we picked up a cable knit sweater from the thrift store for less than 5 bucks.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4zn2_E-oMjs/TdIHQEsHBQI/AAAAAAAAAFc/2JVHAQZJS94/s1600/sweaterMitten.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4zn2_E-oMjs/TdIHQEsHBQI/AAAAAAAAAFc/2JVHAQZJS94/s640/sweaterMitten.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">We were able to use the bottom of the sweater and the sleeves to make two pairs of mittens. Plus, they were custom fit for our own hands! This is a fun tutorial that only takes about 30 minutes and you can create custom mittens for yourself and friends and family for a great price.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">You can also check in our <a href="http://paperwaterdrops.blogspot.com/p/diy-projects.html">DIY tab</a> for instructions and pictures on how to make these warm Martha Stewart mittens!</span>paperwaterdropshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03021940905792393059noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4600046241231260007.post-4289373189497089762011-05-16T13:19:00.000-07:002014-02-17T13:33:17.018-08:00DIY: Sweater Mittens<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="margin: 0px;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Time: 30 Minutes</span></div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="margin: 0px;">
<div style="margin: 0px;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">To get started, gather the following items:</span></div>
</div>
</div>
<ul>
<li><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Paper</span></li>
<li><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Pencil</span></li>

<div style="margin: 0px;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Sweater Mittens How-To</span></div>
</div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="margin: 0px;">
<div style="margin: 0px;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></div>
</div>
<div style="margin: 0px;">
<div style="margin: 0px;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">1. Make a pattern: Trace one hand on a piece of paper with the thumb at a 30-degree angle from the fingers. Draw a mitten shape around the outline of the hand, adding 1/2 inch (allow more than 1/2 inch if the sweater you are using is especially bulky).</span></div>
</div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="margin: 0px;">
<div style="margin: 0px;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span></div>
</div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="margin: 0px;">
<div style="margin: 0px;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">2. Cut out the pattern and pin it onto the sweater, piercing both layers. Cut out the pattern to create two mitten shapes. For more fabric, we cut the sleeves down the seem and used both as an extra patch to cut a mitten out of.</span></div>

</div>

<div style="margin: 0px;">
<div style="margin: 0px;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">3. With right sides facing, pin the mitten cutouts together, then with a sewing machine, sew them together, leaving a 1/4-seam allowance. <div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">One of my favorite pastimes involves breathing life into abused and abandoned treasures (especially when such revitalizations can be accomplished on the cheap). </span></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">I don't care much for brassy finishes, so when I happened upon the two perfectly utilitarian record storage pieces pictured below, I knew a quick makeover was needed. </span></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Two of my favorite transformations to date were incredibly easy and inexpensive. Behold! </span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Up first is this fabulous vintage record rack that I picked up for less than three bucks. </span></div>

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">And second, a re-purposed magazine rack. I can't remember exactly how much this particular piece cost me, but I suspect it was no more than a dollar or two. </span></div>

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">As a renter, it's also nice to incorporate color in unexpected ways, since painting the walls isn't always a viable option.</span></div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">After a less than successful first attempt, Keelin and I quickly found a new <a href="http://allrecipes.com//Recipe/the-best-rolled-sugar-cookies/Detail.aspx">sugar cookie recipe</a> to try. While the cookies from our second attempt were a little less melt-in-your-mouth good, they held their shape so much better than the cookies from our first attempt. Take a look! </span></div>
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">You may have noticed Hello Kitty in the picture above. Keelin got super fancy and free-formed the design. Here's a close up: </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">Keelin </span>and I were excited to use cute cookie cutters for our holiday baking this year, including <a href="http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/30133046">this</a> adorable set I picked up at Ikea. While we were hoping for perfectly shaped masterpieces, they actually turned out something more like this: </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_GIpAnaDHEaQ/TRZ08l6Lo7I/AAAAAAAAAC8/Ef9rtPWJ7JQ/s1600/DSC08778.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><img border="0" height="424" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_GIpAnaDHEaQ/TRZ08l6Lo7I/AAAAAAAAAC8/Ef9rtPWJ7JQ/s640/DSC08778.JPG" width="640" /></span></a></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">That's right, a big-blobby-mess. Thankfully, Keelin was able to beautify the cookies with some pastel icing she whipped up. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">We've picked out a new recipe, aptly called <a href="http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/The-Best-Rolled-Sugar-Cookies/Detail.aspx">The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies</a> and will be posting our results soon. In the meantime, do you have any holiday baking tips or tricks you can share with us? </span></div>paperwaterdropshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03021940905792393059noreply@blogger.com1
